EAST - KYLIE RUSK & ALAN SQUIRES

Paying homage to their mutual admiration for Te Tai Tokerau coastline, Kylie Rusk and Alan Squires have joined forces to present EAST, on show from 17 November - 3 December 2023. 

With paintbrush and camera lens respectively, Kylie Rusk and Alan Squires have examined and documented the nuances of Te Tai Tokerau’s Eastern coastline, resulting in a collection of ten evocative works exploring aspects of Bream Bay, Tutukaka, Whangārei Heads and the Bay of Islands. Staying true to their individual art practices, Rusk and Squires present their own perspective and interpretation of the diverse natural beauty of the coastline, culminating in an impressive collection.

We warmly invite you to join us for the opening of this new exhibition on Friday 17 November, 5-7pm at 'GARAGE125', located at 125 Cameron Street, Whangārei.  Entry to the gallery space is at the rear of the building via Albert Street.  Just follow the signs and you will find us. We'll be ready and waiting with exceptional art, great company and refreshments.

On the following morning at 10am (Saturday 18 Nov), we are thrilled to be hosting “In conversation with the artists”.  Both Kylie and Alan will be in the gallery to talk us through their works on show and share insights into their respective art practices.  We will also be broadcasting this event live on Instagram for those of you who cannot be with us in the gallery.  We hope you can join us to celebrate the works of Rusk and Squires in EAST.
